Who has gone this way from London before? Is it really long? Are they strict with excess baggage?
RAM are asking £450 at the mo and I refuse to pay that much as it's a rip off!!! Easyjet seems the only other option!

Khalid - I have travelled Easyjet Luton - Madrid - Tangier many times. Going out it is just right as by the time you have collected your bags at Madrid and then checked in at Madrid to go to Tangier you only have about an hour and half or so spare. Enough time to grab a cup of coffee, a snack and a look around the expensive shops (if you dont mind the really high prices at Madrid airport!). Coming back there is something like a 5 hour wait at Madrid before the flight back to Luton. There is always the option to catch the underground train at the airport and pop into Madrid centre to kill some time

Easyjet aren't too bad with regards to excess baggage. It really depends on the mood of the check-in staff. The Madrid staff are much more easy going than the Luton staff. For example you can take a fag lighter and you dont always have to strip off as you go through to departures

Once you are called to board the plane the Moroccan experiences then start. Think organised queuing then think about the Moroccan style of queuing i.e. just walk to the front and push in, then watch others as they do exactly the same. What starts out as a nice long line very quickly becomes a big ball of people pushing and shoving to get on a plane that is going anywhere untill everybody has boarded in any case!

If however you have already booked your tickets and find that you dont want to go, you can always give me the tickets. I will send you a postcard, pick up a little gift (say some Moroccan slippers or safi vase or whatever) and you will be safe with the knowledge that it would have been really appreciated

Dont forget the Easyjet sale ends tonight

Hope this helps

Paul

Paul,

Thank you very much for the above information, very much appreciated mate!  :)

Well for the dates I want i'm looking at £243 which is a hell of a lot of a saving!! (Luton-Madrid/Tanger)  BUT you only get 20K of baggage allowences (1 suitcase) and I usually take around 30K and another 5K in hand luggage etc...

Now is it true easyjet charge £84 for an extra 3K of weight? now that's some serious doe lol... Neutral

Sale ends today which is just my luck as I am still mauling the idea of going with easyjet... Rolling Eyes

Cheers Paul (Tkt is in the post!  Laughing )

K.

Khalid - I think when you book your flight you can also remove or add extra weight or an extra suitcase. Dont know how much it will be although I am sure if you book it at the same time it is not that expensive

To be honest, when I go (alone or with friends) I only travel with hand luggauge and this is only for my camera, passport, etc. I take a newspaper and work my way through the suduko puzzles. Daily mail has 5 or 6 and some good brain teasers. The time goes quick this way. When you have family and they need food, drink, etc it costs a fair amount. It really is an expensive airport

For our next trip, I think we paid £75 each return which is a good price. especialy during school summer holiday time

Tangier is a nice airport

Where are you looking to go in Morocco? If you don't mind me asking

On a slightly seperate note, what typicaly does a Moroccan take back with them when they go? Please don't say tea-bags, lea & perring sauce or any thing like that!

To add extra weight it says  £84 for just 3 kilos lol...so 20k is the max if you want a cheap n cheerful flight!

I am from Tangiers so will plot there for most of my trip and in northern parts of Morocco inshallah.

Well it's mostly my clothes and gifts for the family, hence 30k min requirement. Don't worry it aint HP sauce n ketchup lol...

Do you live in tanger?

Khalid - I live (and was born) in sunny Luton, Bedfordshire

I have an apartment about an hour away from Tangier on the Med coast. It is inbetween M'Diq and Ceuta. I think the area was called Restinga Smir and now they are trying to call it Tamuda Bay. It is also known as the Golden Mile!

I have Khalid, and will be doing so again in the summer inshallah. I think Iberia is the way to go - professional airline with competitive prices (if you book far enough ahead) and changing in Madrid/ Barca not as stressful as u might think. Plus the 46KG luggage allowance doesnt hurt  Wink

I have taken the plunge and booked with Iberia for a decent price of £269, 17th July inshallah. I guess it can't be much worse than RAM or can it lol... Laughing
